Library to host light and shadows workshop

The North Lake County Public Library is hosting a youth workshop titled “Leap into Science: Light & Shadows” starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26. Looking to put a little light in your life? Come learn all about shadows — what they are, how they are made and how fun they can be. Join us in the library for story time, a shadow puppet play and hands-on learning stations.

Leap into Science is a national program designed to build interest and skills in science and literacy for children ages 3-10 and their families. The program originated in 2007 through a partnership with the Free Library of Philadelphia.

Swim lessons coming up

The Mission Valley Swim Academy’s next round of swim lessons for students age 4 and older begins Tuesday, March 1 at Mission Valley Aquatics and Fitness, 309 Ridgewater Drive in Polson.

Lessons will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays through March 25. The entire session costs $75.

Parent and Tots swim lessons, for students age 4 and younger, will be held Mondays and Wednesdays in March, beginning Monday, March 7. An adult must be present in the water with the child. The session also costs $75.

Quilt guild gathering

The next regular meeting of the Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 1 at the Terrace Lake Community Church in Ronan. Prior to the regular meeting, a work meeting will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. to complete quilt show ribbons.

Richardson to address Pachyderms

Deann Richardson of Safe Harbor will be guest speaker at the next Lake County Pachyderms meeting, which will begin at noon on Friday, Feb. 25 at the Polson Rural Fire Station, 25 Regatta Road in Polson.
