Eagle Scout installs mini pantry at Ronan Bread Basket
Eagle Scout Nicholas Snyder recently completed his scout project, building a small food pantry at the Ronan Bread Basket that is accessible anytime to people in need.
Snyder had approached the Ronan Bread Basket in April about his idea, and soon after began fundraising for materials. He organized a spaghetti dinner, silent auction and bake sale.
The emergency food box was built and installed in May. The box is about 2 feet wide, 4 feet tall and 18 inches deep. It is located in the front of the Ronan Bread Basket.
It is stocked with non-perishable foods that are fairly easy to prepare. Food is not placed in the box during the extremely warm days.
The pantry box is a permanent addition to the Bread Basket to help the community of Ronan.
Snyder also made "birthday bags," containing a cake mix, balloons and candles, and bags with sidewalk chalk and toys for pantry clients, which were a big hit.
He also donated $600 toward keeping the mini food pantry stocked.
