4 Maidens claim all state honors

A quartet of Maiden softballers were recognized for their contributions on the field and at the plate who helped Ronan make a return trip to the postseason after a hiatus since 2019.

Conferred with all-state status is junior shortstop LouRasia Weatherwax, who led the Maidens for hits, batting average, hits for extra bases as well as RBIs. On defense, her fielding was instrumental in keeping opposing batters off the basepath.

Receiving second-team recognition is senior infielder Ashlie Welker, who tied second for team leading extra base hits with nine doubles while likewise tying for second leading production of RBIs. This was the second all-conference nod for Welker, an honorable mention last season.

A repeat second-team nom is senior hurler Kiara Sherman, whose penchant for mixing a little humor along with her pitches helped keep batters off balance as well as teammates loose in the dugout. Sherman wielded one of the more consistent bats among the Maiden lineup that included team second leading number of dingers with four.

Rounding out Ronan recipients of postseason accolades is freshman outfielder Ally Luedtke, who was named to the second-team. Luedtke tied second for team extra base hits while wheeling around the base path to score the second most runs for the Maidens this past season.
