Campers learn golf skills at Polson Bay
POLSON – Polson Bay Golf Course recently held its free junior golf camp where young players learned the fundamentals of the game in a fun and positive atmosphere.
The camp sponsored by McDonald’s and the Polson Elks Lodge was open to all kids entering first grade through eighth grade this fall.
Polson PGA professionals, golf course staff and junior volunteers taught the kids how to play in different areas of the sport, including putting, short-game, bunker play and driving range.
“We had a wonderful turn out for camp this year with more than 70 kids enjoying a week of instruction and fun,” said Cameron Milton, PGA Head Golf Professional at Polson Bay Golf Course.
On Friday afternoon, the camp concluded with a family style potluck BBQ and a pitch, putt, and drive competition.
Here are the boys and girls ages 11 and up pitch, putt, and drive medalists, Strider Gage and Coco Scott, each finished first; Fox Johnson and Johanna Bieber, each placed second; and Max Milton and Cheyenne Bieber, each placed third.
For the ages 9-10 group, Cozette Gage and Liam Castor, each placed first; Presley Newgard and Carl Clark, placed second; and Wyatt Server finished third. Sophia Weber and Kayla Grainey both tied for third place on the girls 9-10 group leader board.
In the 7-8 age category, Bryer Sarver and Colton Fairbank tied for first place, while Gwen Jones topped the girls group. Ellis Ruhkla and Kole Higdon each finished in second; and Tobias Becker and Kimber Kirwan, each placed third.
Wrapping up the age groups, in the 5-6 years old bracket, Pearl Begley and Dewey Noe grabbed first place; Oscar Jones and Avayah Rubel placed second and Emma Schallock and Berlin Davis each finished in third place.
