Lester Raymond Cyr

Lester Raymond Cyr, 86, of Big Arm, died June 26, 2022 after complications with COVID and Parkinson’s Disease. ‘Les’, passed away peacefully with his wife Marcia Cyr, and three sons, Mike, Brian, and Craig at his side.

‘Les’ was born April 23, 1936, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Elmer and Elsie Cyr. As the second oldest of four siblings, Les grew up on a family ranch near Alberton, MT where he attended school and graduated from Alberton High School in 1955. After attending Western Montana College for a short time, Les joined the Navy in 1956 serving on a submarine based in Honolulu, HI for four years before transferring to the Reserves for two years. In 1960 Les continued his education in electronics at the DeVry Technical Institute.

Les married his high school sweetheart Marcia D. Nearman on June 30, 1961 in Missoula, MT, and moved to Southern California to begin his carrier with Northrup Grumman and started their family.

Les and Marcia moved back to Montana with their three young sons in 1970, where he began his career with Radio Shack in Great Falls. Moved the family to Missoula in 1973, and eventually to Polson in 1978 after falling in love with Flathead Lake where he started Polson Electronics as a Radio Shack dealer for over 20 years. In retirement, Les spent these final years with Marcia splitting time between their homes on Flathead Lake and in Yuma, AZ.

Les is survived by his wife, three sons, and five grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating Lester’s life is planned for later this summer in Polson.
