Mila Hawk scored 26 points and Kassidi Cox added 17 as the Charlo girls’ season came to an end in dramatic fashion Friday with a 66-62 four-overtime loss to West Yellowstone at the Western C divisional tournament at Frenchtown.

The game was a low-scoring, defensive showcase for the most part, but Charlo (17-5) went on an 18-13 run in the fourth period to tie things up.

The Lady Vikings also got eight points each from Sidney Bauer and Hayleigh Smith.

Emmie Collins scored a game-high 39 points for the Wolverines (15-9).

Charlo opened the tournament Thursday with a 43-30 loss to top seed Manhattan Christian. The Eagles (23-2) advanced to the championship game, where they lost 45-41 to Twin Bridges (18-5).

Smith had a team-high 15 points in the loss to the Eagles, while Bauer finished with six points and Hawk scored five.

With the title game win, the Falcons secured the West No. 1 seed to the class C state tournament March 9-12 at Great Falls, while Manhattan Christian is the No. 2 seed.

The Lady Vikings held a record of 15-1 into early February, with the lone loss coming early on to class B Mission. Their next loss came to undefeated Seeley-Swan, 48-40 in overtime, on Feb. 11.

Seeley-Swan entered the tournament with a perfect record but they lost their opener against Manhattan Christian and finished fourth after a one-point loss to Shields Valley in the third-place game.

With the loss to West Yellowstone, the prep careers of seniors Katelyn Young, Jessica Shenyer and Kassidi Cox came to an end.

It was a close game throughout, with the Vikings pulling ahead in the second and fourth quarters, a trademark of their season.

With the win, Charlo advanced to take on Harrison-Willow Creek (15-8) on Saturday, when their season ended with a 48-41 loss.

Piedalue was the lone Viking to finish in double-digit scoring, pacing his team with 19 points. Charlo also got eight points from Love in the finale. The Vikings trailed by one heading into the final period, where they were outscored 16-10 down the stretch.
