RONAN — Senior Madyson Currie scored 15 points to lead the Mission girls in a season-ending 55-42 loss to Eureka (15-8) on Saturday in a consolation game at the Western A divisional tournament. It was the final career high school game for Currie, the team’s lone senior.

Currie gave Mission (15-10) a 2-0 lead with a couple of early free throws before the Lady Lions pulled ahead. Eureka’s Ixone Coteron banked in a jumper at the buzzer to put her team up 16-7 after one period.

Mission chipped away at the lead and momentarily pulled ahead by four points during a stretch that saw a -pointer from Mission’s Kason Page, a successful three-point play by Page and a free throw by Izzy Evans.

Jadyn Pluid hit a 3-pointer with 22 seconds remaining to give the Lady Lions a 30-27 halftime lead, and Eureka pulled away throughout the second half.

Kason Page finished with 10 points, while Kooper Page added seven for the Lady Bulldogs.

Mission, a 3 seed coming into the tournament, opened Thursday against No. 2 seed Florence-Carlton, with the Falcons (12-10) winning 54-42.

Kason Page scored a team-high 15 points in Thursday’s loss, while Gabby Smith finished with seven and Evans added six.

The Falcons outscored Mission 27-19 in the second half to pull away.

Mission’s lone victory of the tournament came in a loser-out game Friday, when they defeated Powell County (Deer Lodge) 66-47.

The Lady Bulldogs pounced on the Lady Wardens and led 17-5 after the first period. They led 39-20 at half.

Currie and Kooper Page led the way with 17 points each, while Kason Page contributed 15 points in the win.

The surprise of the tournament was No. 4 seed Thompson Fall’s run to the championship game against top-seeded Bigfork, with wins over Missoula Loyola and Eureka along the way.

The Valkyries (22-1) won the title game 45-26 and will be the West No. 1 seed at the class B state tournament March 10-12 at Bozeman. Thompson Falls (16-8) will represent the West as a No. 2 seed.

Bigfork’s only defeat so far this season was a 52-44 loss at Mission on Jan. 22.
