Ronan readies St. Patty’s Day parade

The city of Ronan will hold its 33rd St. Paddy's Day parade, which begins on Main Street at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17. Entries should line up at 5:15 p.m. behind the hospital. Prizes will be given after the parade at Irish Headquarters of The Bird Bar and Grill. Categories included Most Irish; Best Irish Animal; Greenest Sports Team; Best Kids’ float; Pub Wars; Biggest set of Shamrocks; Greenest Float; and Best Overall.

Organizers will not be registering floats, but will be on site monitoring for inappropriate displays, which will be banned from the parade.

Dodgeball tournament coming up

The fourth annual Ronan Dodgeball Tournament begins at 6 p.m. Friday, March 18 at the Ronan Event Center. There also will be a 600 ping pong ball drop with prizes. The cost to participate is $3 for adults and $2 for students. Concessions will be available, and all proceeds will support the Ronan track and field program.

Owl prowl hikes coming to Big Arm

Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks staff will lead an owl watching event at the Big Arm Unit of Flathead Lake State Park two Saturdays in March. Join the search for owls and find out what lurks in the trees starting at 6:30 p.m. March 12 and March 19. This program will meet at the Entrance Station. Please bring warm clothes, a headlamp, water and binoculars (some are available to loan). Call 406-837-3041 ext.0 for questions and to register.

Learn about cybersecurity

The North Lake County Public Library will hold a workshop titled “Upgrade Your Cybersecurity” from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 15. Is your online information as secure as you think? Learn the best ways to safeguard your data and protect yourself on the web. This presentation will cover several sides of cybersecurity, including passwords, malware, privacy, data breaches and scams.

Good Shepherd series of the 23rd Psalm

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is hosting a series of the 23rd Psalm. The theme for Wednesday, March 16 is “God is With Us.” Soup and bread will be served at 5:30 p.m. at the church at 409 Fourth Ave E. in Polson. There will be a message of trust and hope at 6:15 pm. There is no charge for the meal.

Choral Society performances set for April

The Mission Valley Choral Society will perform a pair of concerts April 9-10 for “The Awakening” on Palm Sunday weekend. The first concert begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church. The second concert is at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Polson, which will include MVCS members as well as community members who will join in for a mass choir presentation for the last two musical numbers. Immediately following the Sunday concert, a meal will be served in the church. Those wishing to sing with the mass choir should RSVP as soon as possible so enough music can be provided.
