LaFrombois, Christensen shine in Mission Valley All-Stars

Mission’s Zoran LaFrombois hit four 3-pointers in a game filled with them, and his Light team beat the Dark 105-99 in the Mission Valley All-Stars series held Tuesday, March 15 at the Ronan Events Center.

In the girls game, the Light won 74-52 behind 16 points from Hot Springs senior Katelyn Christensen.

LaFrombois, a junior, scored 13 of his 16 points in the first half, including three 3-pointers. Four teammates had 15 points: Levi Fullerton (three 3s) of Arlee; Ross McPherson of Mission; Marlo Tonasket of Ronan (11 in the second half); and Keaton Piedalue of Charlo. Ruben Couture of Ronan added another 11 points.

For the Dark, Polson’s Colton Graham and Mission’s Cederick McDonald had 17 points each. Ronan’s Payton Cates had 15 points and nine rebounds. Ben Old Person-Harlow of Arlee and Stetson Reum of Charlo had 10 each, and Polson’s Xavier Fisher had nine points, all on 3-pointers.

Christensen fueled a 50-point second half for the girls’ Light team, and finished with 16.

McKirah Fisher (Arlee) and Emma Berreth (Bigfork) added nine each, and Jazlyn Dalby (Polson) hit two threes on the way to eight points.

Ronan’s Olivia Heiner hit three 3-pointers and scored 15 points to lead the Dark team, with Madison Chappuis of Bigfork adding 10 points. Kayla Standeford of Plains knocked down two 3-pointers and scored eight points.

Madison Chappuis of Bigfork and Katelyn Christensen of Hot Springs were named co-MVPs for the girls, Ronan’s Payton Cates and Mission’s Zoran LaFrombois were the boys’ co-MVPs.

LaFrombois also won the 3-point contest at halftime, edging out fellow Bulldog McDonald. Lady Pirate Dalbey won the girls’ 3-point contest following a tiebreaker shootout with Ronan’s Dani Coffman.
