EUREKA — The Eureka girls and Browning boys were the victors April 26 at the Top 8 Northwest ABC meet hosted Tuesday by Lincoln County High School.

Jeremy Bockus won the 400 and 800 to lead the Browning boys, and the Indians swept the relays and got a win from Justice Johnson in the shot put. Browning had 74 points to 69 for Mission and 63 for Thompson Falls.

Mission saw Zoran LaFrombois win the 3,200 decisively in 10 minutes, 30.94 seconds, one of the better times in Class B so far, and teammate Charley Adams swept the 100 and 200.

Other top marks included Mason Elliott of Plains winning the 300 hurdles in a season-best 44.41 (Eureka’s Jason Cummingham also ran his season best and was second); the Lions’ Carson Komac extended his best javelin throw to 159 feet, 3 inches while winning that event.

Caleb Utter won the high jump and pole vault for Eureka as well.

On the girls side, Eureka’s girls piled up 160 points to 93 for Thompson Falls and 51 for Plains.

The Lions had big depth points, though Maya Carvey won the 100 in 13.38 and teammate Remmi Stanger won both the 100 hurdles and the high jump.

Thompson Falls’ Chesney Lowe won the javelin, pole vault and Long jump, and her javelin throw of 111-0 was a personal record.

Plains’ Alexis Deming won the discus and shot put, and Noxon’s Emily Brown won the 400 and 800.

Heninger wins 3200 at ARM Invitational

WHITEFISH — There weren’t many records that fell Saturday at the Whitefish ARM Invitational, but one of note was in the boys shot put, where Whitefish’s Talon Holmquist uncorked a monster throw of 53 feet, 6 inches – 10 inches farther than his previous best, 52-8, set last week in Columbia Falls.

Holmquist’s throw is second best in Montana, behind Cade VanVleet of Noxon, who threw 54 feet at the Seeley-Swan Invite last week. To add to his win in the shot put, Holmquist also topped the field in the discus with a throw of 144-1.

Polson’s Halle Heninger won the 3,200 with a season-best time of 12:52.12. Ashtyn Wagner was second in the 1600 behind Hailey Gingery of Havre, while teammate Adison Carlson finished fifth. Wagner also finished fifth in the 800. Taleah Hernandez finished fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 8 feet flat.
