Larry G. Arbaugh, 74

| May 23, 2022 2:30 PM

Larry G. Arbaugh, 74, passed away May 19, 2022 at his Ronan home while surrounded by his family. He was born June 29, 1947 in Harrison, Ark. When he was a couple of weeks old, his family moved to Jerome, Idaho, where he grew up and graduated high school.

He was in the Air Force during the Vietnam era. After he was discharged, he began his career in radio and television. He retired from his job at KPAX in Missoula as their chief engineer in 2009 after working there for many years. He also had worked at another TV station prior to his time at KPAX.

Larry and Ilene married in August 2009 after he retired, and they moved to Ronan, where they bought a home. Then they decided to build the Pines of Polson/Mission Assisted Living Facilities with their family, and it continued to be a family business until they sold it in 2021 so they could retire again and travel. They loved their business and the many employees who worked with them through the years and were very proud of the home they provided for the residents.

In 2018 they bought Mountain View Care Center in Ronan and recently sold that also.

Larry enjoyed racing his red corvette with the SCCA, where he was a member for many years. He enjoyed traveling with Ilene when they got the chance, spending time at their home with the family and his many “grandkids”.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Harold L (Pete) Arbaugh, mother Olgi Faye (Johnston) and first wife of 33 years, Susan.

He is survived by his wife of almost 13 years, Ilene of Ronan; son Mike and (Hermelinda) Coe of Ronan; son Rick Coe of Ronan; and the “grandkids” whom he enjoyed so much. He also is survived by his younger sister, Melanie Arbaugh of Coeur d’Alene. Messages of condolences may be shared with the family online at www.lakefuneralhomeandcremation.com.

Arrangements are under the care of The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory.
