RONAN – Ronan Chief quarterback Caleb Cheff hit Robbi McCrea on a 15-yard scoring strike in the middle of the fourth quarter to erase the goose egg on the scoreboard against the visiting top-ranked Hamilton Broncs on Friday night.

The defending Class A state champion Broncs went on to win the non-conference match-up 42-7.

Ronan finished with 121-yards total offense on the night, while the Chief defense held the potent Hamilton offense to 151 yards passing and 119 yards on the ground.

Cheff completed 9 of 18 passes for 87 yards, no interceptions, and a touchdown. McCrea led all Chief receivers with 38 yards on three catches and a TD, while Trent Burland added 25 yards rushing on seven carries.

The loss drops Ronan 1-5 on the season as they prepare to battle the 3-3 Corvallis Blue Devils in Corvallis on Friday evening.
