POLSON — Downtown Polson was awash in a sea of purple and gold on Friday afternoon as Polson High School celebrated the fall tradition of homecoming with the traditional homecoming parade down Main Street.
During the mid-afternoon parade, students threw candy and waved at the crowds as they rode past on fire trucks and flatbed floats decorated to this year’s theme “Loot the Loggers.”
The Polson Pirates and Lady Pirates kicked off the homecoming sports week on Tuesday with a Northwestern A conference soccer match against the visiting Columbia Falls Wildcats and Wildkats. The Wildcats prevailed over the Pirates 4-0, while the Lady Pirates fell 5-0 to the Wildkats.
Under the lights Friday night, the Pirates moved to 5-0 on the season as they blanked the Libby Loggers 49-0.
Pirate quarterback Jarrett Wilson completed 26 of 35 passes for 365 yards and threw six touchdowns. Wilson also rushed 26 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown.
Wide receivers Trent Wilson and Brock Henriksen booked two touchdowns, while Dawson Dumont and Tyler Wenderoth each hauled in a touchdown apiece.
During halftime festivities Clara Todd was named 2022 homecoming queen, while Jarrett Wilson was named homecoming king.
Rounding out the rest of the Polson homecoming court were Kendall Straub, Tia Mercer, Tyler Wenderoth, Colter Wilson, Noah Roberts, and Ashtyn Wagner.
Wrapping up the sports week on Saturday at Linderman gym, homecoming queen Todd had three kills and an ace helping the Lady Pirates to a three set 25-14, 25-8, 25-11 win over visiting Browning.
The Lady Pirates were led by Avery Starr with 15 assists, Samantha Rensvold with seven kills, and both Lucy Violett and Julia Barnard with seven digs each.
