POLSON – Charlo students from high school through kindergarten and residents of Charlo took part in a week’s worth of homecoming activities showing their Viking pride which led up to the Friday evening football game against the Darby Tigers.
Homecoming activities throughout the week included a parade, pep assembly, float construction, dress up days, and crowning of the king and queen.
Hundreds of Vikings supporters watched along Montana 212 downtown Charlo, on Friday afternoon, as the homecoming court, sports teams, and more than a half a dozen floats made their way from the high school through town and back again.
Homecoming kicked off Thursday with the Lady Vikings volleyball team hosting the Alberton Lady Panthers. The Lady Vikings overwhelmed Alberton in a 3-0 victory, 25-13, 25-20, 25-21.
In football, the Vikings dominated on both sides of the ball from the opening kickoff to the final snap, racking up 275 yards of offense and limiting the Tigers to only 89 total yards of offense.
“All of the coaching staff is happy with our performance early in the game,” said Viking head coach Reese Cox, “The boys managed to put the distraction of homecoming to the side and go out and compete with confidence and poise.”
Cox also noted, “We are also proud of the youngsters that got to get on the field, they helped finish off the shutout and didn't weaken.”
On the night, Viking quarter back Hayden Hollow threw for 105 yards and four touchdowns with no picks. Hollow also ran for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Keaton Piedalue found the endzone twice on a rush and catch, while Stetson Reum hauled in two TD passes from Hollow.
Sidney Bauer and Keaton Piedalue were crowned homecoming king and queen and received their crowns during halftime activities.
Others on the Viking homecoming court are Hayleigh Smith, Tucker Love, Brody Black, Kristy Porter, Stetson Reum, and Kemrie Cross.
