Local folks know that we have twelve seasons. April is called Fake Spring because it snows and it’s cold. Winter ends on May 3, then Spring starts, or as we say, the season of road construction. It lasts until whenever the money runs out. No matter what the season, here are ways you can join us:

Free tax-filing assistance is available until Thursday, April 13.

A regularly scheduled “board game night” is available Thursdays. B.Y.O.B. (bring your own board) and separate tables will be set up for different games; if you’re interested leave contact info at the center. Ping-pong is also available for the public.

Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: bowling for fun, 1 p.m. Tuesdays; bridge, 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays (beginners welcome); low-impact exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; Tai Ji Quan – Moving for Better Balance, 10-11 a.m. Tuesdays and 1-2 p.m. Wednesdays (new people are welcome); pinochle, 12:30-3 p.m. Thursdays; bingo, 7 p.m. Fridays ($100 payout on blackouts), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays. The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays.

A veteran’s representative will visit the center from 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday, April 18.

Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. weekdays and cost $5. The menu is posted each week at the center; call before 10 a.m. for deliveries.

Main dishes include: oven-fried chicken, April 13; and sausage, egg and cheese roll-ups, April 14; cheesy broccoli soup, April 17; meatloaf, April 18; tacos with fixings, April 19; turkey pot pie, April 20’ and pork tips with gravy, April 21. f

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays at 504 3rd Ave. E. For more information, call 406-883-4735 or email polsonseniorcenter@gmail.com.
