Ronan, Polson softball teams best Whitefih

Ronan thumps Whitefish in season opener

The Ronan Maidens had their bats going in their season opener against Northwestern A Conference foe Whitefish on Thursday, April 6, collecting 12 hits en route to a 15-0 victory.

While driving in four runs, Alexis Luedtke had three hits, including a home run and a double. Kaydynce Santos had two RBIs as did Morgan Simpson and Shelby Taylor. Santos also had a double in the matchup. Brogan Youngren had two hits and an RBI, including a double.

Ronan jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first and then added five more in the bottom of the 10th and caused the game to end early with a four-run rally in the third. Whitefish mustered just one hit while committing six errors.

Tyariah Morigeau pitched all three innings for the Maidens, striking out five and allowing just one walk to pick up the win.

Polson no-hits Whitefish Lady Bulldogs

The Lady Pirates improved to 4-0 on the season with a 19-0 victory over Whitefish on Saturday, April 8. Pitcher Samantha Rensvold didn’t surrender a hit while striking out four in the victory; Avery Starr came in in the third and struck out one.

Polson jumped out to a 9-0 lead at the plate after one inning and added 10 more runs in the second. After Whitefish couldn’t score in the top of the third, the game ended due to a mercy rule. The Lady Bulldogs also committed four errors in the contest.

Leadoff Nikki Kendall had a hit, drove in three runs, and scored twice. Carli Maley also drove in three runs along with a hit, while Kailey Smith had a double and drove in three. Avery Starr and Caitlyn Ward also drove in two runs, and Ward was the only Polson player with a multi-hit day.

Polson is now 2-0 in conference play.
