Athletes fair well at meets in Missoula, Co-Falls and Corvallis

Parson and Umphrey win at SSHS Meet

Lake County athletes had a pair of event winners and multiple podium trippers at the SSHS Track Meet in Missoula on Saturday, April 22.

GIRLS

Arlee’s Raven Parson won the high jump with a personal record mark of 4-10. Parson was also third in the long jump with another personal record of 15-9.5.

Charlo’s Aida Cote was fifth in the 400-meter run (1:04.39) with a personal record. Cote was also seventh in the discus (96-05).

Arlee’s Adalyn Jacobson was sixth in the 200-meter run (28.85), while Charlo’s Taylea Lund was seventh in the 200-meter run (28.93) and ninth in the 100-meter run (13.90). Freshman Elsie Detert was seventh in the 1,600-meter run for Charlo (6:23.08)

Charlo’s 4x100 relay team was eighth (56.30) and their 4x400 relay team was sixth (4:44.72).

BOYS

Mission’s Bryce Umphrey won the long jump with a season record of 21-1.5. Umphrey was eighth in the 100-meter run (11.99) with a personal record and earned fifth in the triple jump (39-11).

Mission’s Zoran LaFrombois was second in the 3,200-meter run (10:23.38) and fourth in the 1,600-meter run (4:44.85), while Charlo’s Hayden Smith was ninth (5:00.92) in the 1,600-meter run and fourth in the 3,200-meter run (10:59.80).

Arlee’s Charley Crawford was second in the javelin with a heave of 142-07, while Charlo’s Tucker Love placed third in the javelin with a throw of 140-0. Mission’s Kellen McClure was tenth with a throw of 127-02.

Junior Hayden Hollow finished third for Charlo in the 800-meter run with a mark of 2:10.81. The Vikings’ Keaton Piedalue was tenth in the 400-meter run (54.69).

Mission’s Harlon Leishman was seventh in the 3,200 meter-run (11:25.06) for a personal record.

Charlo’s 4x100 relay team was sixth (47.02), while Arlee’s was 11th (47.80). Charlo’s 4x400 relay team was seventh (3:53.74).

Jake Knoll’s shot-put throw of 39-8 earned him a seventh-place finish for Arlee, while Charlo’s Jacob Tomlin placed eighth in the shot put (39-2).

Arlee’s Kendall O’Neill was seventh in the high jump (5-4) and Charlo’s Tayre Brown was ninth in the pole vault (9-0)

Wagner places second and third at Iceberg Invite

Distance races proved to be where Lake County athletes shined the brightest at the Columbia Falls Iceberg Invitational on Saturday, April 22.

GIRLS

Ashtyn Wagner was second for Polson in the 1,600-meter run (5:45.10), while Isabel Seeley was third in the 3,200-meter run (13:14.80) with a personal record.

In the javelin, Ronan’s Kylie Fetui was fifth (97-3). Fellow Maiden Maddy Illig was sixth in the high jump with a personal record of 4-8 as a freshman.

BOYS

Polson’s Brandt Heninger was fourth in the 3,200-meter run (11:42.20). Ronan’s Taigen Lindquist was fourth in the high jump (5-6), while teammate Josia Misa was tenth (5-4).

Lindquist also placed fifth in the long jump (18-8.75), and Wade Qualtier was eighth (18-3.75).

Ronan’s Tayen Edmo was fifth in the 800-meter run as a sophomore (2:14.10), while teammate and fellow sophomore Jacob Piapot was ninth (2:30.6).

Edmo also placed sixth in the 1,600-meter run with a personal record of 4:58.10, and Piapot was tenth (5:10.8)

Ronan’s Wade Qualtier was 10th in the 200-meter run (25.33). Polson sophomore Jesse Kimball was ninth in the 400-meter run.

Polson’s 4x100 relay team was seventh (48.81), while its 4x400 relay was third (4:01.70) thanks to running by Jesse Kimball, Teague McElwee, Orin Harnden, and Hayden Clairmont.

Polson Sophomore Astin Brown was seventh in the shot put (42-11).

Skillicorn wins at Corvallis Twilight Meet

The Corvallis Twilight Meet brought several western Montana schools together on Thursday, April 20, with Lake County athletes breaking personal records and garnering high spots in the event rankings.

BOYS

Polson senior Drifter Skillicorn was first in the long jump with a mark of 20-8.75, a personal record for him. In the 400-meter run, Skillicorn set a personal record and placed fourth (53.40), while teammates Gus Hertz was eighth (56.27) and Trey Peterson was tenth (57.32).

Polson’s Robert Merchant was fifth in the 100-meter run (11.92) and set a new personal record as a freshman. Charlo senior Keaton Piedalue was sixth with a time of 11.94. Pirate Tommy Williams was ninth in the 100-meter run (12.06).

Piedalue was fourth in the 200-meter run (24.26), while Williams was fifth (24.34) and Merchant was ninth (24.92).

Charlo’s Hayden Hollow was seventh in the 800-meter run (2:14.17), while teammate Hayden Smith was eighth (2:14.22). Polson’s Hertz was ninth (2:15.02) and fellow Pirate Noah Roberts was tenth (2:15.05).

Charlo’s Smith placed fifth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:04.57. Polson’s Brandt Heninger was eighth (5:17.88) and fellow Pirate Kai McDonald was ninth (5:19.90). Polson’s David Bjorge was eighth in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:41.46.

In the 4x100 relays, Polson was fourth (46.44), and Charlo was fifth (47.91). In the 4x400 relay, Polson was fourth (3:47.16), while Charlo was fifth (3:47.56).

In the shot put, Polson sophomore Astin Brown was fifth (45-0.5) with a personal record, while Charlo junior Jacob Tomlin was ninth (39-10). Brown was sixth (123-01) in the discus with another personal record.

Charlo’s Tucker Love was seventh in the javelin (145-10). The Vikings’ Karson Cox was eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 35-7.5.

GIRLS

In the 400-meter run, Polson senior Ashtyn Wagner was third (1:04.97), and teammate Hannah Simpson was sixth (1:07.95). Wagner also finished third in the 800-meter run (2:33.22), while Charlo’s Aida Cote was sixth (2:39.83).

Polson freshman Kellyn Nelson was sixth in the 200-meter run with a personal best of 29.46. Charlo’s Taylea Lund was ninth (29.94). Polson’s Michelle Dale was tenth in the 200-meter run (30.26) and tenth in the 100-meter run (14.19)

In the 1,600-meter run, Polson’s Isabel Seeley was fifth (6:05.45).

Charlo’s 4x100 relay team was fifth (56.70), while its 4x400 relay team was fifth (4:39.86). Polson’s 4x400 relay team was sixth (4:44.98).

Charlo’s Aida Cote was seventh in the discus with a throw of 94-10.
