Allard Stage to roll again
The crack of the whip, thunder of hoofs and clanking clatter of stage coach wheels will be heard again this summer as the Flathead Indian Reservation observes the 50th anniversary of its opening to settlement.
One of the highlights of the jubilee summer will be the return of the Polson, Ronan and Ravalli stage. The old Allard stage will make a Polson to Missoula trip in late July, according to J.F. McAlear, president of the Reservation Pioneers.
Polson men picked up the stage at the Kelly summer resort at Swan Lake over the weekend and brought it back to Polson.
The coach will be exhibited at the Polson City Hall this Saturday, April 30.
Big wind causes damage on East Shore
Considerable damage was done along the east shore by the terrific wind storm that hit the area Friday night. Trees were uprooted or split, electric power was off in the Yellow Bay area for several hours and phone lines were dead.
Flathead story to be told on Seattle TV
The Flathead story will be told next weekend to Seattle television viewers. Telling the story will be Bob Millhouse, Polson High School teacher, who also operates “Timberline Trail Tours” – trips for boys in the Mission wilderness area – in the summertime.
He will be flown to Seattle by Phil Timm, owner of Timm Aero Service, who will also appear on the show.

Teen drinkers busted
City police in Ronan wrote 12 tickets for possession of alcohol and cited an adult for contributing to the delinquency of minors last weekend. All arrests occurred Friday and Saturday nights in the parking lot of Lynn’s Drive-In.
According to police chief Allen Corneliusen, officers “came down hard” on teenagers after Lynn’s proprietor Tom Bartel and other property owners complained of their “unruly behavior.”
“We’ll continue to crackdown until they start behaving themselves a little better,” he added.
The 12 citations were written to young adults under the age of 21.
“They’re a pretty good bunch of kids, but a couple times a year, they really get rowdy and squirrely,” he said.
Resort plan studies
The final financing and design package for the proposed KwaTaqNuk Resort was placed in the hands of the Tribal Council Friday.
Tom Acevedo, chairman of S&K Developments, a tribal subsidiary, said if the $6 million project is approved, construction on Koss Landing needs to start soon. Past discussion has pointed towards a late 1991 opening for at least the first phase of the resort/convention center complex.
Doctor plays stork for 300th time
The waiting is over. Dr. Jan-Erik Strole has delivered his 300th baby in Polson and the winner is … Arianna Sandra Aden, who arrived at St. Joseph Hospital at 1:30 a.m. on April 16.
A native of Sweden, Strole brought eagerly awaited OB/GYN services to St. Joseph in the fall of 1987. The walls of the hospital’s second-floor maternity area are plastered with color snapshots of the newborns, and Strole is delighted by the fact that he’s now seeing mothers a second, or even a third time around.
