As summer winds down across Lake County, the school year approaches. The chaos of new student registration, buying school supplies and kids starting their first days of school takes everybody by surprise.

Here's our guide to first days and first games across the county:

Charlo School District

Open House: 4 p.m.-7 p.m. Aug. 21

First Day: 7:50 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 22

First Football Game: Aug. 26 at Valley Christian

First Volleyball Game: 5:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at Phillipsburg

First Cross Country Meet: 10:30 a.m. Aug. 26 at Deer Lodge

Arlee School District

Open House: 3:30 p.m.-4:30, Aug. 22

First Day: 7:45 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 23

Two Eagle River School, Pablo

First Day: 8 a.m. Aug. 24

First Football Game: 1 p.m. Aug. 26 in Arlee against Victor

First Volleyball Game: Aug. 26 at Mission

First Cross Country Meet: Aug. 26 at Deer Lodge

Polson School District

High School Orientation: 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Aug. 23

First Day: Aug. 29

First Football Game: 7 p.m. Aug. 25 in Polson against Big Fork

First Volleyball Game: 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 25 at Columbia Falls

First Soccer Game: 4 p.m. Aug. 25 at Lone Peak

First Cross Country Meet: 8 p.m.-10 p.m. Aug. 26 at Polson Track Field

Golf Tournament: 12-6 p.m. Aug. 21 at Missoula Country Club against Corvallis
