Summer Reading Program’s Ice Cream Social and Author Event – 10 a.m. Aug. 17 at the North Lake County Library in Polson; head to the library for ice cream, prize drawings and a visit by children’s book author, Valerie Bolling, who wrote five picture books and a Scholastic Acorn early reader series.

Climate Café: How can we prepare for emerging climate risks? – 9-11 a.m. Aug. 18 at the Flathead Lakers patio (access on north side of Salish Building parking lot) in Polson; call 406-493-4105.

Lake County Centennial Celebration – 10:45 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Lake County Courthouse in Polson; the celebration of Lake County’s first 100 years begins with a one-mile fun run at 10:45 from St. Joseph Hospital, a parade at 11 a.m., and the opening ceremony at noon. Festivities continue with music, vendors, courthouse tours and drawings for Centennial rifles.

Meet Miss Montana – 4-6:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Polson Airport; ticketed fundraiser for the North Lake County Library’s renovation includes plane tours, a silent auction, and a talk by author and pilot Bryan Douglass. Visit polsonlibraryfoundation.org.

INFR Flathead River Rodeo – Aug. 24-26 at the Polson Fairgrounds; produced by KwaTaqNuk Resort & Casino and the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes, the event features three days of rodeo action, food and beverage vendors, a large screen TV in the arena and live music each night after the rodeo action.

Farmers’ Markets – Ronan: 3:30-6:30 p.m. Thursdays, through Oct. 12 at the Ronan Visitor’s Center (www.facebook.com/RonanFarmersMarket/); Polson: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Fridays through mid-October on 3rd Ave. W.
