Polson Seniors: Annual meeting Aug. 25

The annual meeting of the Polson Senior Center, Inc. will be held Aug. 25 at 11:30 a.m. at the center. We need your input at this meeting. The annual report will be given and elections of officers and the board of directors will be held.

The Birthday Lunch follows at noon honoring members born in August. The menu is baked ham, baked sweet potatoes, mixed veggies pineapple salad, and cake too!

Fresh fruits and vegetables are continuing to flow into the Polson Senior Center. We are using everything we can get from local growers to help keep our food costs down. Fresh home-grown foods are always the best!

Volunteer drivers are needed to deliver Meals on Wheels Mondays-Fridays. Pick your day or days to deliver. Shifts start about 10:30 a.m. and finish in about an hour.

Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: low-impact exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; pinochle, noon-3 p.m. Thursdays (free cookies, coffee and fun); bingo, 7 p.m. Fridays ($100 payout on blackouts), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays. The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays.

A veteran’s representative visits the center from 10 a.m.-noon on the first Friday (Sept. 1) and third Tuesday (Sept. 19) of each month.

Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays and cost $5. The menu is posted each week at the center; call before 10 a.m. for deliveries.

Upcoming main dishes include hot pork sandwiches, Aug. 17; blueberry French toast, Aug. 18, chili/mac soup, Aug. 21; chicken with dumplings, Aug. 22; salad bar, Aug. 23; and pigs in a blanket, Aug. 24; birthday lunch with baked ham, Aug. 25.
