Lake County expresses gratitude, lists parade winners
A press release from Lake County, which celebrated its Centennial Aug. 19, thanked the following people and organizations “for their many positive contributions to the County Founder’s Day celebrations”:
Thanks are due to the City of Polson, particularly its street department, and to the Lake County Sheriff’s office, for traffic control during the parade; Gil Mangels and Miracle of America Museum for vintage military parade entries and elected official escort; Anderson Broadcasting for announcing support from Brian Miskimins and Rich Forbis; Blodgett Creamery/Maxine’s Eatery for supplying power for the portable stage; and Jason Delaney, Matt Seeley and Jan Andrews, organizers of the Fun Run.
The winners in the several parade categories are as follows: Most Thematic, Whitefish Credit Union; Best Fire Truck, 1936 Ford Darley pumper; Best Police Car, 1956 Lake County Sheriff’s patrol car; Best Music: Flathead Reservation Traditional Dance Troupe with Buckshot Singers; Best Classic Car, 1964 Impala, Rob Dotson; Best Farm Related, 1948 Ford 8N, Gale Decker; Most Enthusiastic, New Life Church; Most Creative, Lake County Birthday Cake; Most Patriotic, Boy Scouts, Troop 1947 and others; Artsiest, Lake County Republicans; Best Sports Team, Ronan Wrestling Club; Little Kid’s Fave, all the firetrucks; Most Montanan, Swan and Lake County SARs; Most Fun, quarter-midget car, Stinger Racing.
The county expressed gratitude to the Boy Scouts for its Color Guard service, and to the many parade entries “who made the parade entertaining and fun – and particularly to the many fire agencies, all otherwise busy, who found time to send representatives.”
Reportedly, Polson Cross Country had the highest turnout for the Total Miles Over 100 contest; the winners of the runners’ drawing were Britian Davis and Wica Brown. The winner of the Pendleton blanket, donated by 219 Main, was Toni Kramer; Rob Dotson won the Big Boy Rifle, Collision Craft of Polson won the Standard 22 Rifle; and Chuck Lewis won the Golden Boy Rifle.
County officials also thanked Alpine Designs for their donation of the stage and floral arrangements for the registration table.
