Mission boasts several standouts at Tip-Off Tournament

Hosting their own Tip-Off Tournament, Mission picked up six set victories in their first action of the season on Saturday, Aug. 26.

"I felt like the team did great jumping into the tournament," Mission Head Coach Marissa Mock said. "A few things to work on and tweak as we jump into the regular season, but I was overall impressed by the effort, communication, and leadership my team has and gave this weekend."

The Lady Bulldogs picked up a sweep of Lake County rival Arlee, 15-5, 15-10, as Alecia Steele and Emily Morigeau each at three kills, while Amelia Cronk had five assists. Mission then split with Noxon, 10-15, 15-6, as Steele again led the attack with four kills and Amelia Cronk notched four aces.

"Sophomore hitter Alecia Steele came out of the locker room ready to swing and performed," Mock said. "She is a smart player, and I am excited to see what she will do on the court this season. I was also impressed by my setter duo Amelia Cronk and Jada Domebo, who both come in the game and get the job done for the hitters. They are both smart setters and hustle for everything."

Mission split with Eureka as well by scores of 11-15, 15-12 as Izzy Evans collected six digs and Cora Matt led the team with three kills. Matt led Mission's attack with three kills against Anaconda as the two teams split 13-15, 15-8. Jada Domebo had four assists, while Evans had five digs.

Mock praised senior middle blocker Izzy Evans's leadership skills during the tournament.

Against Loyola, the Bulldogs split again 17-16, 11-15 as Alecia Steele, Rowan McElderry, and Cora Matt each had two kills. Domebo also dished out three assists in the matchup.
