Ronan Boys take top honors at Owen Invitational
The Ronan boys wrestling team started the season with a championship at the Owen Invitational in Polson over the weekend, while the hosting Pirates placed ninth. The Chiefs had four wrestlers place first, and many more reaching the podium.
At 103 pounds, Ronan’s Ian Dillard placed first, pinning three, while teammate Justin Orman-Bergman was sixth. At 113 pounds, Thomas Dillard was sixth for the Chiefs.
Ridge Cote placed first for Ronan at 120 pounds, falling three, while Polson’s Ryley Knutson was fourth, also pinning three.
At 126 pounds, Luc Cheff placed third and pinned four in the bracket. Polson’s Max Ramesar also pinned four and placed fourth.
Ronan’s August Courville pinned three to finish third at 132 pounds.
At 145 pounds, Ronan’s Fortino Silva was first, falling four and defeating Plains’ Drew Carey by a 6-2 decision in the championship bout. Teammate WilJames Courville was third, battling through the bracket with six pins. Polson’s Daniel O’Roake was fifth, with four falls.
Ronan’s Koda King was second at 152 pounds with three pins. At 160 pounds, Mission/Charlo’s Kelby Dumont was fifth with three pins.
At 170 pounds, Landon Bishop placed first for Ronan with four pins, including a 5:54 fall of Columbia Falls Winslow Pete in the first-place matchup.
Ronan’s Tristan Fisher was third in the 182-pound bracket with two pins, while teammate Jackson Davis was fourth at 285 pounds with three pins.
