Ronan Hall of Fame introduces members of the Class of 2023, beginning with a profile of Distinguished Community Member Lynn Olsen, known as the voice of Chiefs and Maidens for 28 years. Olsen announced all indoor sports games as well as some football games from 1989-2017.

While probably best known for the spirited commentary provided during his tenure with Ronan High School, Olsen first began announcing Pablo baseball in 1983 and also announced at the Mission Valley Speedway for nearly a decade.

In addition to announcing, Lynn and his wife, Kathy, have a long history of supporting youth sports and activities in the Mission Valley. Olsen began serving as a t-ball coach and umpire when his children were young, and he continues to assist with his grandson’s t-ball and youth soccer teams.

Olsen served on the Ronan School Board and Ronan Booster Club and the Olsen home was always open to house student-athletes from visiting teams and as a meeting and workspace for the Booster Club.

As owner of KO Auto, Olsen provided financial support to Ronan athletics as well as time, often rushing into the gym after work to change out of shop clothes into announcing clothes, on his way to the announcer’s booth to kick off another game.

From playing on the undefeated Charlo football team in high school to personally knowing and

supporting student-athletes for decades, Olsen celebrates a lifetime of athletic involvement and achievement in the Mission Valley.

That said, his proudest legacy is his family: wife Kathy (Barnes) Olsen, three adult children, and soon-to-be 10 grandchildren who know him as Papa. He’s also a friend to many throughout the area.

The Hall of Fame Class of ’23 will be inducted Jan. 13 during a ceremony at the Ronan Community Center.
