Tough freshman incoming from Mission/Charlo
Mission/Charlo Wrestling had five state qualifiers last year, including one placer. This year, they’ll have several younger wrestlers in the program who bring a lot of toughness. This includes Kai O’Brien, who, as an eighth grader, went 11-0.
Kelby Dumont, who took fifth at the last weekend’s Owen Invitational, “has been putting in a ton of time over the off-season,” Mission/Charlo Head Coach Jacen Petersen said.
“Two of our returners that I expect to do a good job this year are Dillon Dwelle and Aubrey Sharbono, who is our only returning girl and is a senior this year.”
Petersen said that Sharbono improved a lot throughout last year and went to a number of tournaments and camps. Petersen called her “one of the hardest workers I know of.” She placed third at last weekend’s Owen Invitational, as did Meadow Ragen.
Mission/Charlo should have a good year out on the mat and, more importantly, a great year to build as a squad.
“I’m excited to see how our younger kids do,” Petersen said. “They are new to high school, but many of them are not new to wrestling.”
