Maidens lose to Frenchtown
Frenchtown wasn’t the best of hosts to their Tip-Off Tournament, delivering a 63-31 loss to Ronan in non-conference action on Saturday, Dec. 8.
Kylee Kelch and Zailee Hewankorn each had seven points for the Maidens, while Maddy Illig added four. Ronan was 10-for-20 from the free-throw line.
Frenchtown took a first-quarter 16-8 lead and turned it into a 35-15 advantage at halftime. It then opened up the third quarter with a 16-9 run.
Ronan fell to 0-2 on the year with the loss.

Ronan clipped by Hamilton In overtime
The Maidens opened the season with a well-fought 48-46 non-conference loss to Hamilton in the Frenchtown Tip-Off Tournament on Friday, Dec. 8. Ronan was led by Lauryn Buhr and Ally Luedtke, who each scored nine points.
After the first quarter, Ronan had a 13-11 lead, and Hamilton had a 25-24 advantage at halftime. The Maidens opened up a three-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, but Hamilton was able to force overtime.
After Hamilton took the lead, Ronan had a chance in the final seconds on a three-point attempt and two putback attempts. The final attempt by Luedtke found its way into the hoop, but it was waved off due to time expiring.
McKern had eight rebounds and six steals, while McCarthy had three assists. Nelson led the team in rebounds with 10. Kylee Kelch had eight points for Ronan, while Maddy Illig and Arianna Zepeda had seven points.
Ronan shot 4-of-11 from three-point land and 2-for-13 from the free-throw line.
