Ronan dominates at Flathead Girls Invitational
The Ronan girls were the top-scoring Class A team at the Flathead Girls Invitational on Friday, Dec. 8, and Saturday, Dec. 9, placing third overall and notching several individual first-place finishes. Polson placed eighth at a team in the invite.
At 100 pounds, Ronan’s River Cote placed first, recording three falls, including a pin of Glacier’s Katelyn Sphuler in the first-place match. Polson’s Ciri Nice placed sixth.
Ronan’s Saellah Nomee won the 114-pound bracket, notching an eye-popping five pins, including a fall of Flathead’s Adi Siegel in the championship bout. Polson’s Araeya Nelson placed fourth, notching two pins and three decisions. Ronan’s Amanda Webster placed sixth in the weight class as well.
At 126 pounds, Katie Dolence placed first for Ronan, pinning four and defeating Butte’s Sophie Grunhuvd 6-4 in the first-place match.
Mission-Charlo’s Aubrey Sharbono was sixth in the 145-pound bracket, scoring three falls and a decision.
Ronan’s Leona Dodson Howe was sixth at 152 pounds, notching four pins in the process.
Abigail Sorrell placed fifth for Polson at 185 pounds, picking up two pins in the bracket and falling Missoula Big Sky’s Elizabeth Henkins in five minutes in the fifth-place match.
At 235 pounds, Tirza TwoTeeth was first, falling all four of her opponents, including Billings Senior Kelbey Brewer, in the championship route.
