With more than 30 singers, the Mission Valley Choral Society made an impressive entrance onto the stage at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Sunday afternoon.

The concert was the choir’s second event of their Christmas concert weekend, and followed Saturday’s performance at the St. Ignatius Mission.

Director Cathy Gillhouse, who took the choir's helm last summer, introduced accompanist Karla Gallatin and expressed the group’s appreciation for the pianist’s good work.

The 12 concert numbers ranged from favorite carols, such as “Silent Night,” to less-well known fare such as “Christmas Day” by Gustav Holst, and included “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas with Pine Cones and Holly Berries.”

The church was full, and audience members mentioned that the concert made it feel like Christmas was on its way.
