Girls Class A Basketball: Polson battles past Butte Central

Polson went on a 16-9 run in the second quarter and held on for a 52-46 non-conference victory over Butte Central on Saturday, Dec. 16 in Butte.

Natalie Adams led the Lady Pirates with 16 points. Polson trailed after the first quarter but gained the 26-21 advantage at halftime.

The second half was a tight affair, but the Lady Pirates were able to extend their lead by a point. Samantha Rensvold added nine points, and freshman Rylee Taylor-Jefferson added eight points.

The win improved Polson to 2-2 on the season.

Bigfork takes down Polson

Ava Davey scored 15 points, and the Bigfork Valkyries outscored Polson 25-1 in the second half of a convincing Northwest A win Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Bigfork, in their return to the Northwest A Conference, handed Polson a 52-12 loss. McKenna Hanson led the Lady Pirates with six points, but the team could only muster one point in the second half.

Bigfork led 27-12 at halftime, then went on a 10-0 run in the third quarter and a 14-1 surge in the fourth quarter. Ava Davey led Bigfork with 15 points.

Ronan powers past Stevensville

Ronan’s Zailee Hewankorn scored 16 points as the Maidens pulled away from Stevensville for a non-conference 48-36 win on Thursday, Dec. 14.

At halftime, Ronan led 25-17 and went on a 16-6 run in the third quarter to ice the contest. Lauryn Buhr added 12 points, while Maddy Illig had seven for the Maidens.
