Wrestling Roundup: Ronan collects medals at Mission Mountain Classic

Three Ronan wrestlers placed second at the Mission Mountain Classic in St. Ignatius, and the Chiefs finished second in team scoring on Saturday, Jan. 28.

Ian Dillard placed second at 103 pounds, notching a pin. Will James Courville was second at 145 pounds, with a pin in the semifinals before falling in the first-place match. Peterson Watkins was second with a pin in the semifinals at 152 pounds.

Dominique McKay was third for Ronan with a pin, technical fall, and a pin in the third-place match.

On the girls side of things, Ronan’s Leona Dodson Howe (152) was first with two pins.

Mission’s Chance Bockman was first at 160 pounds with two falls, while teammate Canyon Sargent was first at 170 pounds with two falls as well.

For Mission’s girls, Lettie Umphrey was first at 114 pounds with two pins.

Polson notches two pins against Libby

Polson fell to Libby/Troy 66-12 in dual action on Tuesday, Jan. 24. Daniel Peterson (152 pounds) pinned Joey Wise, while Jaren Keene (170) also notched a pin over James Warner.

Ronan defeats East Helena

Ronan downed East Helena on Tuesday, Jan. 24, in dual action by a score of 48-24. Ronan’s Thomas Dillard (103), Luc Cheff (113), Ridge Cote (120), Peterson Watkins (145), Brady Hout (170), and Cole Dalke (182) picked up pins for the Chiefs.

Jairyn Krause (126) notched a 5-4 decision, while James Kenelty (138) posted a technical fall.
