Ronan defeats Arlee and Whitefish, drops one to Stevi

Lauryn Buhr scored 15 points as Ronan picked up a 55-14 nonleague victory over Lake County rival Arlee on Saturday, Feb. 4. The Maidens blanked the Scarlets in the opening frame and didn't give much up the rest of the way.

Olivia Heiner added 11 points to Ronan's total, while Leina Ulutoa had seven. Port Pier's four points led Arlee.

Ariana Zepeda's clutch basket with 6.2 seconds remaining propelled Ronan to a hard-fought 35-34 victory over Whitefish in a thrilling girls' basketball contest in the Northwest A Conference on Thursday, Feb. 2.

Heiner led the way for the Maidens with seven points, while Buhr and Maddie Duffy contributed six points each, shooting an impressive 6-for-9 from the floor.

Ronan mounted a comeback against Stevensville in the second half that came up short in a 46-44 nonleague loss in overtime on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Stevensville led 27-22 at halftime, but the Maidens would go on an 11-5 run to take a 33-32 lead in the fourth quarter.

Ulutoa led Ronan with 21 points, while Olivia Heiner had 16. Ronan fell to 3-4 in league play and 3-11 overall.

Polson falls to Browning, surges past Whitefish

League power Browning had their hands full but ultimately defeated Polson 43-34 in Northwestern A Conference action Friday, Feb. 4.

Browning went on a 14-5 run in the second quarter for a 24-12 halftime lead and Polson couldn't make the ground up in the second half.

Mila Hawk's eight points led the Lady Pirates while Julia Barnard added seven points. Hawk crossed the 700-point milestone for her career.

Eight Lady Pirate players scored in a 51-34 Northwest A Conference victory against Whitefish Tuesday, Jan. 31. Barnard led the way with 14 points, while Grace Simonich added another nine points.

Polson led 29-16 after the first half and built onto their lead in the second. Hawk had eight points.

Polson is now 7-3 in the league and 10-6 overall.

Browning and Whitefish defeat Polson

Polson scored a season-high 80 points, but it couldn't keep pace with Northwest A Conference-leading Browning, which picked up the 93-80 victory on Friday, Feb. 3.

Dawson Dumont led the Pirates with 28 points and ten rebounds, while Jarrett Wilson added 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Eight Pirates scored in the matchup. It was Dumont's second-highest point total of his career as he went 4-for-4 from the three-point line.

Browning surged early for a 25-9 advantage in the first quarter, but Polson's offense picked up, scoring over 20 points in the next three quarters.

Espn Fisher added 13 points to the Pirates' efforts. It was Polson's fifth loss in a row

After Whitefish outscored Polson by five points in the fourth quarter for a 47-45 conference victory on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Polson led 24-14 at halftime, but Whitefish's offense began to surge in the second half. Dumont led the Pirates with 11 points, while Wilson notched ten and Trent Wilson had eight. Polson had defeated Whitefish on Jan. 6 by a score of 65-45.

The Pirates are now 6-10 overall and 4-6 in league play.

Ronan falls to Whitefish, outlasts Stevi

Whitefish went on an 18-4 run in the second quarter en route to a 55-34 Northwestern A victory over Ronan on Thursday, Feb. 2. Kolby Finley and Elijah Tonasket each had nine points, but it wasn't enough.

Whitefish led 27-11 after one half and then went on an 18-9 run in the third quarter.

The loss moved Ronan below Whitefish in the conference standings. Ronan is fifth with a 2-6 league mark and a 6-9 overall record.

Ronan emerged victorious over Stevensville with a 55-49 nonleague win on Tuesday, Jan. 31. The game was back and forth, with both teams battling for the lead throughout the contest.

Ronan started strong, outscoring Stevensville 13-10 in the first quarter and going into halftime with a 31-23 advantage.

Ted Coffman led the charge for Ronan, contributing 15 points to the team's effort. Other key contributors for Ronan included Josiah Misa with seven points and Finley with five.

Mission soars past Deer Lodge, falls to Florence-Carlton

The Bulldogs were outscored 27-17 in the final quarter and fell to Florence-Carlton 60-58 in nonleague play on Thursday, Feb. 2.

Mission used 15-7 run in the second quarter for a 26-21 lead and extended their advantage to eight points in the third quarter before Florence-Calrton surged forward.

Zoran LaFrombois led the Bulldogs with 35 points, while Landon Walks Over Ice added nine.

The Bulldogs snapped their two-game skid with a 69-37 nonleague victory over Deer Lodge on Saturday, Feb. 4. LaFrombois scored 24 points, and Mission jumped out to a 32-18 halftime lead.

LaFrombois passed the 1,600 points scored milestone for his career, and it was the 16th game of his career in which he scored 30 or more points.

Walks Over Ice added 13 points, while Carmine Adams added 12 points and 15 offensive rebounds. Eight different Mission players found the basket on Friday night.

The win improved Mission's overall record to 8-7, while Deer Lodge dropped to 1-13.

Arlee falls to Florence-Carlton

A surge by Florence-Carlton in the middle stages of their Western 6B matchup proved to be the deciding factor in a 63-49 win over the Warriors on Friday, Feb. 3. Arlee was led by Bend Old Person-Harlow's 19 points, but the Warriors couldn't overcome the 33-18 run by Florence-Carlton in the second and third quarters.

Kendall O'neil notched nine points for Arlee, while Dallas Swab had seven points.

Arlee fell to 7-6 on the season with the loss.

Mission triumphs over Deer Lodge, Florence-Carlton

The Lady Bulldogs' offense was hard for Deer Lodge to stop as Mission picked up a nonleague 73-32 victory over Deer Lodge on Saturday, Feb. 4.

Kooper Page led the Lady Bulldogs with 24 points, while Elannah Flat Lip notched 14 points.

Mission jumped out to a 19-7 lead in the first quarter and had a 36-16 advantage going into halftime. The Lady Bulldogs put things on ice with a 17-3 run in the third quarter.

Mission got off to a quick start on its way to a 49-36 victory over Florence-Carlton in nonleague play on Thursday, Feb. 2. Page led the Lady Bulldogs with 17 points.

Mission led 15-7 after the first quarter and had a 37-27 advantage after three quarters. Izzy Evans added nine points to the Lady Bulldogs' efforts.

In separate action, Florence-Carlton notched a 73-31 victory over Arlee in Western 6B action on Friday, Feb. 3. Arlee fell to 0-8 in league play.

Mission sits in third place in the Western 7B league with a 5-4 league record and a 10-4 record overall.

Charlo downs Superior in overtime

The Vikings won their third straight and clinched the Western 14C League title with their 69-64 overtime victory on Saturday, Feb. 4.

Wesley Anderson led Charlo with 22 points, while Stetson Reum added 21.

The Vikings jumped out to a 24-7 lead in the first quarter, but Superior's 21-10 run in the third quarter tightened things back up. After things were forced into overtime, Charlo outscored Superior 12-7 in the extra stanza.

Tucker Love and Keaton Piedalue each added 11 points.

The win improves Charlo to 12-3 on the year and 10-1 in league play. St. Regis is in second place at 10-2, with both losses coming to Charlo. The Vikings have one league game left against last-place Alberton but already hold the tie-breaker against St. Regis.

Superior fell to 5-10 on the year.

Two Eagle survives Hot Springs, bests Noxon

Two Eagle's high-powered offense proved too much to handle in a 68-59 Western 14C victory over Noxon on Friday, Feb. 3. Thomas Spotted Eagle led the Eagles with 21 points, while Malacye Piapot poured in another 15.

Two Eagle led 36-18 at halftime over Noxon, and while the Red Devils offense picked up in the second half, they couldn't make up the difference.

The Eagles' Daniel Black Wolf and Cai Burke each added 10 points.

Two Eagle survived a late game rally by Hot Springs for a 49-46 league victory on Saturday, Feb. 4 – the Eagles' second win in a row and fourth in five games.

The Eagles were led by Burke's 14 points, while Spotted Eagle notched 12. The win boosted Two Eagle to 11-5 overall and 8-3 in league play, while Hot Springs fell to 3-12 on the year.

Superior outlasts Charlo

A slow third quarter proved to be the difference as Charlo fell to league-leading Superior 52-49 in Western 14C basketball action on Saturday, Feb. 4. With the victory, Superior clinched the league title.

Charlo gained the advantage early with a 16-4 run in the first quarter and led 31-18 at the break. Superior went on a 19-4 run in the third quarter and edged past the Lady Vikings in the fourth. Seeley McDonald scored a career-high 20 points for Charlo.

Charlo dropped to 9-2 in league play and 11-4 overall but is firmly entrenched in the league's second-place slot.

Two Eagle falls to Hot Springs and Noxon

Two Eagle dropped a Western 14C contest to Hot Springs on Saturday, Feb. 4. Hot Springs jumped out to an early 19-9 lead and cruised to a 62-36 victory.

A slow start by the Lady Eagles allowed Noxon to take control for a 60-30 victory on Friday, Feb. 3. Keke Tenas notched 15 points for Two Eagle while Sarah Gardipe added another 10. Noxon had a 24-6 lead after one quarter and a 41-14 lead at halftime.

Two Eagle is now 2-10 in league play.
