John R. Dibble, 80
John R. Dibble, age 80, a resident of Jette Lake near Polson, passed away on Jan. 30, 2023, at Logan Health in Kalispell. He was born on Feb. 11, 1942, in Pontiac, Mich., the son of Charles Emerson and Eleanore (Stolberg) Dibble.
John attended Humboldt State College in Arcata, Calif., majoring in Forestry. Following his graduation, John received a commission as a Naval Officer in 1965 and served on the Commander Naval Forces Marinas staff stationed in Guam.
Upon returning to civilian life, he began his lifetime career as a professional forester working for the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs. John arrived in Polson in 1976, working with the Flathead Reservation before continuing his career working with tribes around the country.
After returning to Polson in retirement, he volunteered many hours to the Jette Lake Landowners Association to improve the forest environment for all residents and landowners.
John is survived by his wife, Jean, and sons James and Jeremy, both of Portland, Ore., along with six grandchildren.
