Polson Seniors: Next up is Presidents Day
If it’s not one day (Valentine’s) it’s another (Presidents) Day. On Feb. 20. we recognize all of them, not just your favorite(s). Like them or not, we live in a Democratic Republic; celebrate their leadership. Celebrate Democracy.
Our demand for meal deliveries is growing monthly. Thank you to the Nutrition Staff for the upgrade to more varieties of meals and maintaining the quality of meals served at a reasonable cost.
Seven trained volunteers are available to offer tax-filing assistance on Mondays or Thursdays from now until April 6 or so. Call for an appointment and bring your paper work and a copy of last year’s tax forms.
Super-0ne Foods in Polson has been donating the grocery bags we use for food distributions. You can help by recycling your green bags at the Senior Center.
Tai Ji Quan – Moving for Better Balance classes, taught by Dixie Bisson, are available 10-11 a.m. Tuesdays and 1-2 p.m. Wednesdays; new people are welcome.
Other activities at the center, open to all, include: bowling for fun, 1 p.m. Tuesdays; bridge, 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays (beginners welcome); low-impact exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; pinochle, 12:30-3 p.m. Thursdays; bingo, 7 p.m. Fridays, with playing card bingo on the first Wednesdays and third Thursdays. The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays.
A veteran’s representative will visit the center from 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Feb. 21, and Friday, March 3.
Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. weekdays and cost $5. The menu is posted each week at the center.
Main dishes include: pork chops and stuffing, Feb. 16; burger pot pie, Feb. 17; vegetable beef soup and tuna sandwiches, Feb. 20; BBQ chicken, Feb. 21; taco salad, Feb. 22; corn dogs, Feb. 23; and the birthday lunch featuring a roast pork dinner, Feb. 24.
