Public comment sought on container sites

The Lake County Commissioners will host a meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Bigfork to take comment on the Ferndale and Woods Bay container sites.

According to commissioner Gale Decker, the sites will remain open, but days and hours of operation may be reduced.

“The county is putting personnel at all our satellite sites due to the illegal dumping of material, mostly construction waste, at those sites,” he said. “All of them previously have been unmanned.”

Both container sites, as well as Proctor’s site, are currently open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. daily. At Thursday’s meeting, the commissioners are taking public comment on what days/hours the community prefers the Woods Bay and Ferndale sites be open.

The county’s other sites, located near Swan Lake, Charlo and Ravalli, all have reduced hours.
