Music, book-signing, classes on tap at library

The North Lake County Library in Polson has a busy month ahead, with the following events and activities scheduled:

Acoustic Music Series with Neal Lewing, 3:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6: the local songwriter, actor and co-producer of the Port Polson Players performs a variety of tunes, both originals and covers, on guitar.

Smart Driver Course presented by AARP Driver Safety, 1-5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12: AARP instructor Pete Ridgeway helps drivers get up to speed with the latest driving strategies, auto safety features, and new state and local traffic laws. While this class is designed for those 50 and over, all drivers are welcome. The class materials fee is $20 for AARP members or $25 for non-members.

Coloring Program: “The BIG Reunion,” 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17: coloring fans of all ages are welcome.

Book-signing with Milana Marsenich, 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23: The local author reads from and signs copies of her new release, “Beautiful Ghost,” a sequel to her novel “Copper Sky.”

“Get Ready for Library Renovations,” 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26: Learn what will change and what will stay the same when the library begins a major remodeling project this spring. Library staff will answer renovation questions and help participants learn how to search the public catalog, manage their library account, place holds for pick up and more.

Programs for kids: The littlest readers (ages 0 to 3) are invited to Mother Goose story time at 9:15 a.m. Mondays (parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate). Story Time is on tap at 9:15 a.m. Thursdays and offers an opportunity to read books, make crafts and play games. This program is geared for ages 3-5.

The North Lake County Library District has openings for two trustees. To apply for the library board, pick up a Declaration for Nomination and Oath of Candidacy form at the library or the Lake County Election Office. The deadline to file is 5 p.m. Feb. 6 and the election is May 2.

The library’s hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The library will be closed Monday, Jan. 16, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Curbside pickup is available for everyone during open hours.
