Mission Valley Mariners win one, drop three

Mariners’ rally falls short

In a game that went back and forth, Mission Valley fell to the Royals 7-6 in American Legion action on Sunday, July 9, at the John R. Harp Memorial Tournament in Kalispell. Dawson DuMont had three hits, an RBI, and a double in the matchup.

Mission Valley took a 5-1 lead through four innings, but the Royals tied things up in the top of the fifth and added two more runs in the sixth. The Mariners did plate a run in the seventh but fell short in the matchup.

Zak Muzquiz had two hits and a triple, while Cole Wadsworth, Cymian Kauley, and Landon Shoemake each drove in runs. DuMont also stole two bases in the game.

Four Mission Valley pitchers combined to allow nine hits and five earned runs while striking out six batters.

Mission Valley fell to 16-13 on the season but are in fourth place in West District standings at 8-6.

Mission Valley doubles up Calgary

Mission Valley scored five runs in the bottom of the third en route to an 8-4 victory over Calgary at the Kalispell tournament on Saturday, July 8. Wyatt Wadsworth had two doubles and two RBI in the victory. Aiden Gfroerer pitched six and one-thing innings, allowing six hits for the Mariners on the mound.

Mission Valley led 3-2 after one inning, but Calgary tied things up in the top of the third. The Mariners responded with five runs in the bottom of the third.

Calgary scored a run in the top of the seventh, but Cody Haggard pitched the win, finishing the final two outs.

Espn Fisher, Cole Wadsworth and Cymian Kauley each had two hits, while Wadsworth also had two RBI.

Dragons score win over Mariners

Landon Shoemake and Landon Pablo combined to pitch well, but the Dragons picked up a 2-0 American Legion victory over Mission Valley on Saturday, July 8.

Shoemake went five innings, allowing just five hits, while Pablo finished the final inning. The Dragons finished with just seven hits and save for a run in the second and third, couldn't find the scoreboard.

Mission Valley had three hits from Cole Wadsworth, Espn Fisher, and Zak Muzquiz.

Tri-County gets past Mariners

Tri-County scored seven runs in the seventh to post a 17-15 American Legion victory over Mission Valley on Friday, July 7 during the opening games of the John R. Harp Memorial Tournament in Kalispell.

Mission Valley got power from the Wadsworth brothers as Cole and Wyatt each had two hits, with Cole notching a double and Wyatt slamming a home run.

Mission Valley led 3-0 after three innings and used an eight-run rally in the bottom of the sixth for a 15-20 lead. Tri-County, however, came storming back and finished with 15 hits as a team.

Cole Wadsworth finished with three RBI, while Holden Emerson had two RBI.
