Mission Valley Mariners’ bats thump Missoula
Mission Valley Mariners collected 23 hits as a team and battered Missoula 14-3 and 23-5 in Sunday’s doubleheader.
The series began with a five-inning blowout. Dawson DuMont posted a four-hit game with a double, an RBI, and a stolen base.
Missoula led 3-1 after one inning, but the Mariners notched two runs in the second, three in the third, and four in both the fourth and fifth innings. Cole Wadsworth, Landon Shoemake, and Aiden Gfroerer each had three hits, while Cymian Kauley had two.
Gfroerer drove in three runs, was Wadsworth and Shoemake each brought in two runs.
Kauley went the complete game, allowing just six hits in the matchup.
In the second game, the Mariners got a five-hit performance from DuMont to secure a 23-5 victory. DuMont drove in six runs, swatted two doubles and a home run, and had a stolen base in the victory.
Mission Valley finished with 17 hits as a team after jumping out to a 10-0 lead in the first inning. Espn Fisher had a four-hit, three RBI game, while Cole Wadsworth and Wyatt Wadsworth had multi-hit games.
Wyatt Wadsworth had a home run and four RBI in the game, while Holden Emerson, Cymian Kauley and Zak Muzquiz each drove in two runs.
Cole Wadsworth pitched four innings, striking out six and allowing just two earned runs, while Cash Atkison picked up the save by pitching a hitless final inning.
Mission Valley improved its record to 21-14.

Mission Valley wins one, drops one
The Mariners split an American Legion Baseball doubleheader against the Bitterroot Bucs on Saturday, July 15, in Polson with a 9-4 victory followed by a 7-5 loss.
Espn Fisher pitched nearly the entire first game, struck out 10, and only gave up two earned runs in a 9-4 triumph. The Mariners’ bats backed him up, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first and cruising to the win.
Cymian Kauley finished with two hits, a double, and two RBI. Wyatt Wadsworth also drove in three runs, while Fisher had a double.
Mission Valley scored another run in the second and fifth inning. Bitterroot hit five batters while Dawson DuMont notched two stolen bases.
Bitterroot notched two go-ahead runs in the top of the sixth for the victory in the second contest.
DuMont had two doubles and an RBI to go along with a stolen base. He also started the game on the mound, going three innings, striking out three, and allowing five hits and three runs.
Bitterroot led 3-1 after three innings before the Mariners tied the game up with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Bucs would score two runs in the top of the fifth, to which Mission Valley responded with another two runs to keep the game knotted.
Holden Emerson also had two hits and an RBI in the matchup, while Wyatt Wadsworth had a double.
Wadsworth pitched the final four innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out four while giving up four hits.

Mariners sweep Bucs at Florence
Mission Valley scored runs in the first four innings and held on for a 9-8 American Legion Baseball victory on Wednesday, July 12, in Florence, followed by an 11-4 win.
In the first game, Mission Valley scored runs in the first four innings. Dustin DuMont had three hits with a triple in the matchup.
Bitterroot led 7-6 after three innings, but Mission Valley mustered a three-run rally in the top of the fourth. Wyatt Wadsworth finished the game with three RBI and a triple, while Zak Muzquiz notched a double.
Hits were up and down the lineup, and the Mariners finished the game with 13. On the mound, Landon Shoemake pitched three innings, allowing three earned runs, while Landon Pablo pitched another three innings, giving up two hits and an earned run. Cymian Kauley picked up the save, pitching the final inning and striking out two.
Mission Valley scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning in game two, putting them squarely in control in an 11-4 victory over the Bucs. Wyatt Wadsworth hit a home run in the matchup and finished with two hits and two RBI in the victory.
Mission Valley led 3-0 after three innings before posting their five-run rally. Bitterroot would answer with four runs in the bottom of the fourth, but the Mariners would score another run in the fifth and two runs in the top of the seventh.
The team finished with nine hits, with Cole Wadsworth notching two runs and dring in a run. Dawson DuMont had a triple and two RBI in the matchup as well. DuMont started the game on the mound, pitching three innings, scattering two hits, allowing no earned runs, and striking out two.
Kauley pitched the final three and two-thirds innings, allowing just two hits, no runs, and striking out two, to cap off the doubleheader sweep for the Mariners.
