Grass fire west of the city
A grass fire Saturday night and Sunday morning burned over about 400 acres on the power reserve and on private lands along the west side of the river. The fire started below the dam site and for a time endangered several buildings.
Georgia buses pay state tax
The laws of the state of Montana are such that a bus or truck cannot be operated on the highways of the state without first securing Montana license plates. Tuesday, a caravan of six buses owned in Georgia were in the city, on a tour of the various parks and places of interest in the West.

Congo men visit here on national park tour
Albert Buni of Albert National Park and Stanislaus Bakindshe of Garamba National Park, of Congo in Africa, spent a day last week on the National Bison Range at Moiese.
While at the park they were conducted on a tour of the bison range by C. J. Henry, refuge manager. The two men were particularly pleased with their visit here as it was their best opportunity to view the fauna of America.
State forest Xmas tree application deadline Sept. 13
The State Forester will not accept applications for Christmas tree stumpage after September 13, according to B. W. Arnold, assistant state forester. The early date is set in order that State personnel may examine the lands being applied for to determine if a cut should be made this year.

Man wrecks truck, lies and is jailed
A 23-year-old employee of the firm installing a cable television in St. Ignatius wound up with a 10-day jail sentence and a $150 fine yesterday after driving a company truck into a canal and reporting it stolen.
Town Pump burglarized, not robbed
No, there wasn’t a robbery at the Town Pump gas station Sunday night – as numerous rumors had it the following morning.
But there was a burglary. City Police were notified at 12:30 a.m. Monday that someone had gotten through a side window at the station and taken four money bags.
