“Dirt Don’t Hurt” at Pioneer Days
The theme for this year’s Ronan Pioneer Days, Aug. 4-6, is “Dirt Don’t Hurt” – an apt slogan for festivities that include Bulls and Broncs at 7:30 p.m. Friday and open rodeos at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Lake County Fairgrounds.
Pioneer Days opens with the Kids Fishing Derby, 8 a.m.-noon Friday at the Ronan City Park, a golf scramble at Mission Mountain Golf Club, Bulls and Broncs at 7:30 p.m. and the first of two street dances.
Action heats up Saturday morning with the Mission Mountain Classic 5K Run, a 3-on-3 JAM-boree at the middle school, and a softball tourney. A car show fills the south lawn at Glacier Bank from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and the Kiddie/Slicker Rodeo begins at noon at the fairgrounds. The second street dance begins at 9 p.m., after the open rodeo.
The Big Parade begins at 12:30 p.m. Sunday on Main Street, and is preceded by a volleyball tourney at the Ronan City Park from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and followed by the Open Rodeo and Wild Buffalo Ride at 3 p.m.
Ninepipes Museum receives grant, hosts First Saturday
The Ninepipes Museum, south of Ronan, will host First Saturday from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Aug. 5, with music and guest artists.
