Juveniles to be cited for curfew violations

| July 27, 2023 12:00 AM

Lake County Law Enforcement and Youth Court announced recently that officers will be actively addressing curfew violations in response to a recent uptick in criminal activity involving juveniles.

According to a press release from Chief Juvenile Probation Officer Barb Monaco, youngsters have been “violating established curfew hours and causing public and private property damage.”

The established curfew hours in Lake County for both cities and rural areas are 10 p.m.-6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and midnight to 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday. During curfew hours, a juvenile must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Unaccompanied juveniles will be issued citations for curfew violations if apprehended by law enforcement, and parents will be required to pick up their children from law enforcement.

If cited and convicted, juveniles could face fines of up to $75 or be required to complete 10 hours of community service, or both.

City parks in Polson close at 10 p.m., and the Ronan City Park closes at 11 p.m.
