Polson Seniors: More meals served
Women’s world cup of soccer opened July 20. Temperature in Sidney, Mont., is 79 degrees; the other Sidney, 53 degrees. The coaches and fans are wearing down-lined winter coats. Polson is 89 degrees – it’s fire season.
We have noted a substantial increase in lunch meals delivered and lunch meals served to people walking through our doors. We are thankful for your support, and pleased to meet the needs of those senior citizens who are homebound.
The annual meeting of the Polson Senior Center, Inc. will be held the last Friday in August at 10:30 a.m. at the center. The annual report will be given and elections of officers and the board of directors will be held. We need your input.
Volunteer drivers are needed immediately for Monday-Friday Meals on Wheels deliveries. The route starts about 10:30 a.m. and takes about an hour. Pick your delivery days; substitutes are also welcome.
Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: low-impact exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; pinochle, noon-3 p.m. Thursdays (free cookies, coffee and fun); bingo, 7 p.m. Fridays ($100 payout on blackouts), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays. Call for day and time to play bridge. The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays.
A veteran’s representative visits the center from 10 a.m.-noon on the first Friday (Aug. 4) and third Tuesday (Aug. 15) of each month.
Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays and cost $5. The menu is posted each week at the center; call before 10 a.m. for deliveries.
Upcoming main dishes include corn dogs, July 27; birthday lunch with roast turkey, July 28; creamed vegetable soup, July 31; goulash, Aug. 1; baked chicken, Aug. 2; cheeseburgers, Aug. 3; and tater-tot casserole, Aug. 4.
