Richard Daved Peterson, 69
May 20, 1954-July 4, 2023
Rick Peterson passed away at his home in the company of his family July 4, 2023. Rick's Independence Day. Gone home / gone fishin'. No more pain or suffering. Safe in the arms of Jesus.
A Montana resident for over 45 years, Rick loved Montana ... Its waters, mountains and wildlife.
Rick's three sons are roofers in the Mission Valley, and Rick was always "ready, willing and able" to assist them at a moment’s notice, in Rick's own words.
Preceding him in death are Rick's parents Dick and Dixie (Albert) Peterson, Aunt Jaris (Albert) Kelley (Uncle Bob). Rick shared the same birthday (May 20) with Uncle Bob and also shared the mutual love of the hymn "Beulah Land." In-laws Donald and Kathleen Young, brother-in-law Donald Muccigrosso, cousin (Royal) Bud Akers, and niece Autumn Dawn Young ... gone way too soon.
Rick's family and friends were a tight clan. Rick leaves behind his wife, Sheila (Young) Peterson, of 39 years; their sons, Richard (Laura Gardner), Donald (Amber Whitcomb); grands Landon and Stella, Jonathan (Nache Bettoncourt), and grandson Jhett coming November 2023; daughter JosieAnna (Walter); sister Jeanne Courville (fur baby Sadie); brother Leonard Peterson (Marie); nieces Tia Hanson (Eddy), Jana (Kaleb) Emmarie Rain, Cassie (great-great nephew baby Nikoa Storm), and Lyric.
Good friends and family members Susan Gardner and Christopher Gardner; best friend, brother in Christ, fishing buddy, hunting buddy and chess buddy, cousin Rob Kelley; nephew Jesse Newby (Tasha) and son Levin. Jesse, Rick loved deeply as a brother, son and friend – so much gratitude for his quiet presence and integrity during the last few months.
Sister-in-law Suzanne Young; brother-in-law Kip Courville; sister-in-law Stacy Young. Brenda, Diana, Janie and Leslie – he loved you all dearly. Leslie ... Rick got you.
All of these folks Rick loved fiercely.
Rick also leaves behind his dogs, Charlotte, Jax and The Zelda; his cats, Smudge his fetching kitty, Shy and Cleo. Taco, our beloved sparrow, stopped singing and passed, just days after Rick's death. Pretty sure Taco is now on Rick's shoulder while Rick's a fishin' …
Special thank you to Tia Marie Hanson and Jonathan Peterson. You both kept us safe and sound for hours, days, weeks and for several months at all hours of the day and night. You both rock – and Rick knew that! Just no words to describe the gratitude we have for your gentle care, patience and love.
