Nebraskans hold third annual picnic
Former residents of Nebraska who reside in this section of the state held their third annual picnic last Sunday, in Sacajawea park here. A large crowd was present and, following a bounteous picnic dinner, the remainder of the afternoon was spent with a business meeting and water sports.
Human foot is found in river
The dried and shriveled foot of a human being was found in the river bank near the golf course below the power dam Monday by Sam Sampson, caretaker of the golf course. The foot was found lodged in some brushwood against a rock.
The sheriff and coroner were notified and went to the scene.

Four-wheelers stage big rally in Pablo
After days of preparing a tough obstacle course and applauding Job Corps trainees as they built a drag strip reported to be unequaled in the state, the Mission Valley Skyliners 4x4 Club held a two-day rally beside the Speedway here on Saturday and Sunday.
State joins battle over Kerr Dam license
The latest development in a long-standing struggle for a license to operate Kerr Dam was the acquisition last week of a powerful ally for Montana Power Co. – the Consumer Counsel, Montana’s consumer protection agency.
The challengers for the license, the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, are not happy about the news.
“It is a matter of great concern that the rate payers are opposing us in this application,” Tribal Secretary Fred Houle said. “I wonder if (the rate payers) realize Montana Power is passing all its costs for this fight onto them, while the Tribes have to pay theirs entirely from the general fund?”

Men charged after shot is fired in St. Ignatius
Good Old Days in St. Ignatius drew to a close with a literal bang Saturday evening – followed by the confiscation of a firearm and the arrest of two men.
Following an incident in which a handgun was fired outside the Silver Dollar Bar, two men were arrested by Police Chief Wayne Mitchell, and subsequently held in Lake County Jail in lieu of bond.
Special Olympians wilt, win in Louisiana heat
Steve Addington, a Ronan High School student competing in the International Special Olympics earlier this month, took second in his heat of the 50-yard dash. He also got a fourth in the 200 and a sixth in the relay.
