Eight Mission Valley baseball players earn accolades
After Polson won the first-ever state baseball title in Montana, postseason accolades were awarded, and there was a strong bias towards the talented Pirates.
Five Pirates were named to all-state and all-conference teams after a 10-4 win over Whitefish in the state championship games at Butte’s 3 Legends Stadium.
Jarrett Wilson, who will play at Montana Tech in the fall as their quarterback, was named to the All-State Baseball team after hitting .529 for the season with 20 stolen bases, three doubles, and two triples with 17 RBI.
College-bound Dawson DuMont, who will be pitching at Shoreline College near Seattle, was also named to the all-state team with a .493 average, five home runs, three triples, and 11 doubles to go along with 47 RBI.
State championship game hero and winning pitcher Espn Fisher was named to the all-star team after hitting .317, four triples, and three doubles.
All three were also named first-team all-conference.
Polson’s Cody Haggard made the all-conference team with a .333 average and 13 RBI. At the same time, teammate Cymian Kauley also made the all-conference team after hitting .263 with four doubles, seven RBI, and notching a .417 on-base percentage.
Polson finished 19-3 on the season, with DuMont posting a 6-1 pitching record, Kauley going 4-1 on the mound, Fisher was 5-0, and Landon Shoemake was 1-0.
Mission’s Kellen McClure was named to the All-Conference first team, and teammates Canyon Sargent and Mile Crooks were on the All-Conference second team.
