Polson Seniors: Elder-abuse presentation June 15
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is June 15 and the Western Montana Elder Justice Council will hold an educational meeting at the Polson Senior Center on at 10:30 a.m. June 15. The United States Attorney’s Office and Adult Protective Services department will discuss several important topics for all ages and races that involve protecting seniors from abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation and how to recognize and report crimes to authorities. Light refreshments will be provided.
A volunteer delivery driver is needed ASAP for a 20-minuted route starting about 10:30 a.m. Monday-Friday.
Additional staff for our food service is also needed, full or part time with flexible shifts. Stop by for an application.
Clean green plastic bags used by Super One Foods are needed for our food services; there’s a bin on the west end of the center.
Thanks for all the fresh produce that has been donated to the center. Your harvest helps feed the hungry.
Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: low-impact exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; pinochle, noon-3 p.m. Thursdays (free cookies, coffee and fun); bingo, 7 p.m. Fridays ($100 payout on blackouts), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays. The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Mahjong players gather at noon Wednesdays.
A veteran’s representative will visit the center from 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday, June 18.
Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. weekdays and cost $5. The menu is posted each week at the center on online; call before 10 a.m. for deliveries.
Upcoming main dishes include sweet and sour meatballs, June 8; eggs-benedict casserole, June 9; split pea soup, June 12; meatloaf, June 13; French dip sandwiches, June 14; BBQ ribs, June 15; and pizza, June 16.
