Cranbrook ends Mission Valley Mariners winning streak

Mission Valley swept by Cranbrook

Cranbrook ended Mission Valley's five-game winning streak with 13-3 and 5-2 losses for the Mariners on Sunday, June 11.

In the first game, the Canadians spoiled a good pitching outing by Espn Fisher who went four innings and allowed four hits, no earned runs, one walk, and seven strikeouts.

Mission Valley committed six errors and other than three runs in the top of the first; Mariner bats couldn't plate another run in the game.

Cole Wadsworth and Fisher had multi-hit games, and Dawson DuMont had a double and drove in a run. Fisher also had a double.

Cranbrook scored two runs in the second and four in the third for a 6-3 lead. They added two more runs in the fifth and five in the bottom of the sixth to enact the ten-run rule.

In the next game, Cranbrook was able to scatter nine Mission Valley hits and handed them a 5-2 loss. Fisher and DuMont each doubled in the matchup, while Cody Haggard and Wyatt Wadsworth each had RBI.

Mission Valley led 1-0 after one inning, but Cranbrook scored four runs in the bottom of the second and an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth. The Bandits had just six hits in the game.

DuMont pitched five and one-third innings, allowing six hits, three earned runs, and striking out five.

Mission Valley dropped to 8-4 on the year.

Mission Valley bats come alive against Loggers

While the first game of their double-header was low scoring, with a 4-2 win, the bats came alive in the nightcap as Mission Valley picked up a 19-10 victory against their Legion Baseball foe on the road Saturday, June 10.

In the first game, three pitchers combined to hold Libby to just two hits. The Mariners scored all four runs in the top of the second and collected nine hits as a team.

Wyatt Wadsworth doubled to bring home two runs, and a Libby error allowed another to score in the second. Cody Haggard followed this up with an RBI double.

Dawson DuMont finished the game with two hits, as did Cole Wadsworth.

Zak Muzquiz was the winning pitcher for the Mariners, going four and one-third innings, allowing just two hits, one run, four walks, and striking out three.

Libby committed five errors in the loss.

DuMont homered twice and drove in six runs in the second game. Wadsworth also had two hits and two RBI, while Haggard also drove in two runs.

Landon Shoemake went four innings on the mound for the Mariners, allowing four hits, five earned runs, striking out four, and walking nine. Cash Atkinson came in relief to pitch three innings, allowing six hits, four earned runs, striking out four, and walking three.

Mission Valley led 6-2 after three innings, but Libby cut it to 6-5 in the bottom of the fourth. The Mariners responded with a five-run rally in the fifth and two runs in the sixth. Leading 13-7 after six innings, Mission Valley rallied for six runs in the top of the seventh, then fended off the Loggers' three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh.

Both teams had ten hits, but Libby committed 11 errors.

Mission Valley deals Mavericks a loss

Mission Valley scored six runs in the top of the ninth en route to a 13-4 Legion Baseball matchup against Missoula on Wednesday, June 7. Espn Fisher had four hits, three RBI, and a triple for the Mariners in the victory.

The Mariners led 2-0 after the top of the first, but Missoula took the lead in a three-run rally in the bottom of the third. Mission Valley notched another three runs in the top of the six and scored a run in the seventh and eighth innings.

The six-run rally in the ninth put the game out of Missoula's reach. Dawson DuMont had two triples and a double while driving in three runs. Mission Valley had 14 hits as a team, including two apiece from Holden Emerson and Wade Wadsworth.

Cymian Kauler picked up the win, striking out four, allowing three runs, and striking out three.
