Margaret Ann Marie Lowe, 67
Margaret Ann Marie Lowe, 67, passed away on April 4 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Margaret was born in Coquille, Ore., on Oct. 8, 1955, to Francis Ferre and Violet Whitsett (James). Margaret had two sons, Cheney and Cody.
Margaret loved to cook and bake and was very good at it. She started working in the restaurant industry when she was still in high school and over the years she worked and managed several different restaurants in Oregon, Washington, Florida and Montana. Her lifelong dream was to own her own restaurant. In 2015, she purchased the Idle Spur Restaurant and Bar in Dayton and operated it until August 2021 when she retired.
It was not uncommon to find Margaret behind the bar serving drinks to her patrons and friends, taking food orders and then moving to the kitchen to cook. She was well known for her large indulgent cakes and homemade clam chowder. She had an infectious laugh and was always looking out for her friends and patrons. She enjoyed Monopoly games and pinochle.
Her 150-pound German Shepard, Lobo, was the apple of her eye and she loved him dearly. He misses her, but a very good friend of Margaret’s has taken him in as their own and the family is thankful.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Steve and Joe. She is survived by her sons, Cheney (Ashley) Lowe, and Cody Lowe, as well as her siblings, Cindie (Steve) McMahon, Jerry (Kathy) Whitsett and Jim Whitsett, eight grandchildren and many extended family members.
Margaret made many friends over the years and she will be dearly missed, but not forgotten.
A Memorial Service and Potluck Meal to celebrate Margaret will be held Thursday, June 22, from 3-6 p.m. at the Chuckwagon Bar and Grill in Dayton.
