Polson girls soccer places second at Three Blind Refs
The Polson FC U-11 Girls' soccer team came away with a second-place finish at the Three Blind Ref's Tournament this past weekend in Kalispell.
The team ended the weekend with strong wins against Bigfork (5-1), Flathead (5-2) and Coeur d'Alene (4-1), and battled through a tough championship game against Sandpoint.
Solid defensive play anchored by Elynn Bird, Kaylee Smith, Cozette Gage, Adaleigh Whealon, and Scarlett Kabacinzki, along with strong goalkeeper efforts from Madison Emerson, kept the goal differential in Polson's favor and helped propel the team to their three wins.
Goalscorers for the tournament included Amelia Lies (7), Abigail Pobran (3), Paisley Williams (1), Kaylee Smith (1), and Emily Simonich (2). Assists were made by Lies (3), Pobran (2), Scarlett Kabacinzki (1), Kayla Grainey (1), Adaleigh Whealon (1), Anna Fansher (2), Simonich (2), Alia Johnson (1), and Alexis Clave (1).
Polson FC will finish their season June 17-18 in Kalispell at the Montana Showcase Tournament.
