Yellow Bay Community Club hosts bazaar

A Community Bazaar, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at the Yellow Bay Community Clubhouse, 23420 Montana Hwy. 35 (milemarker 18) will help raise funds to maintain the historic clubhouse.

The bazaar includes several sale tables of gently used household items, furniture, a used book sale by Polson’s Friends of the Library, a sale of homemade baked goods, a lunch wagon of hot dogs and fixins’ and free coffee.

Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit the Yellow Bay Community Clubhouse maintenance fund. The clubhouse was built in the 1940s and has been a gathering place for the East Shore community for nearly 80 years, hosting festivals, dances, potlucks, educational presentations, cherry growers’ meetings, receptions, memorials, and other community events.

According to the club’s director, Barbara Hammons, the pandemic slowed membership activity, which in turn has forced the organization to postpone costly upgrades and regular maintenance of the building.

Club members plan to offer more community activities as the year progresses, she says. The Yellow Bay Community Bazaar is among the events that will help keep the doors open and allow the clubhouse to continue serving as center for social gatherings and events that appeal to neighborhood interests.
